A TAILOR-MADE WORKFORCE
Whilst most companies will use an external college-based apprentice system, Goodwin Steel Castings has engineered our own in-house apprentice scheme. This gives us the advantage of providing training our way, so that in the future we have the best workforce for the business.
Our apprentices achieve a BTEC Level 3 in the first six months of their four year apprenticeship through classroom and workshop based activities performed during a standard five day week.
Following this initial six months of training, they then choose ten modules from a twenty five module set, each chosen module running for a six week duration. Each module consists of two weeks observation, one week classroom and two weeks hands-on experience on the machines. For the final two years, after completing all modules, all general engineering apprentice modules are taken as a specialist. The training from then on will be on a 'one to one' basis with experts in their chosen field.
By going this extra mile with our apprentice scheme, we will ensure that Goodwin Steel Castings remains at the forefront of engineering by having only the best, skilled engineers to fulfil your work, both now and in the future.
