Security of supply is key to the success of defence-related projects. Goodwin Steel Castings’ long term vision and continued investment delivers supply capabilities that are unsurpassed.

We are regarded by both new and long standing customers as a critical path supplier, where real value is added to complex programmes. Through early engagement in terms of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and performance reviews in the form of Learning from Experience (LFE), we assist our customers with reduced cost of acquisitions as a result of improved manufacturability, where it is possible to incorporate our proposals.

Our experience and expertise extends to the supply of finish machined castings for the most technologically advanced and prestigious programmes globally, under Manufacturing License Agreements (MLA) and Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA) for Navies around the world.

Goodwin Steel Castings has employees who are Security Cleared (SC) and Developed Vetted (DV), along with secure offline facilities, enabling the execution of classified programmes.

Goodwin Steel Castings supports future platform innovations by actively participating in development work with research organisations, developing next generation materials and manufacturing processes.

ANTI-SUBMARINE WARFARE FRIGATES
Goodwin Steel Castings manufacture critical duty, anti-submarine warfare component parts for the Type 26 Frigate platform. All component parts are produced to Lloyds Register Naval Rules to the demanding technical requirements.
NUCLEAR DETERRENT SUBMARINES
Goodwin Steel Castings supply critical duty components for the Primary and Secondary propulsion systems, as well as other critical castings in the supply chain that form part of the UK Dreadnought submarine programme. In support of the Polaris Sales Agreement (PSA) between the US and UK Governments, Goodwin Steel Castings supply machined components for the Common Missile Compartment.
ATTACK SUBMARINES
Goodwin Steel Castings work with defence primes in the supply of finish machined stainless steel castings as part of the primary propulsion system for the UK Astute Submarine. We have Manufacturing Licence Agreements (MLAs) and Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) in place, allowing engagement with the manufacture of critical class castings for the US Virginia submarine programmes.
