Forging Ingots
We produce specialist ingots for forging, rolling, piping, and tertiary-refinement applications. Our technically advanced melt shop produces exceptional ingot integrity, enabling our customers to obtain consistent chemical and mechanical properties in the procurement of primary ingot feedstock. The ingot forms include round, octagonal, rippled, and multi-fluted and can be ordered to maximise the process yield. Ingot tooling is manufactured in-house or can be free-issued. The facility is accredited to produce nuclear-class ingots in stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, and nickel alloys for critical applications. All of our ingots can be poured into a purged, inert atmosphere.
A full range of ingots from 125kg to 20,000kg are produced in specialist casting alloys.
This is one of four 6.1m pipes produced in IBN-1 (MarBN) steel during the UK Innovate funded IMPULSE project. The manufacture of these full scale pipes will facilitate the validation the IBN-1 material which is an advanced 3%W; 3%Co; 9%Cr steel, for the use in boilers operating at 630’C to 650’C. Each pipe weighs 2,200kg with an 329mm OD, and 226mm ID (51.6mm wall thickness). The pipe is the first of a kind in this new high temperature application material, produced from ingot manufactured by Goodwin Steel Castings Ltd and extruded by Wyman Gordon. These full scale prototype pipes will be used for both parent and weld characterization.
